Posted
2 yrs 1 mo ago
Serial rehab grad Lindsay Lohan's recent "mistakes" have included cocaine possession, multiple DUI and commandeering an auto to scare the hell out of a former employee's mother. For these crimes, the volatile redhead recently spent a total of 84 minutes in custody. Was this punishment harsh, lenient or in-between?

Paramore: Cashing in or ripped off?
Posted
2 yrs 1 mo ago
You know your little upstart scene has moved into a faster lane of commerce when a photo of Paramore graces a section front of the New York Times. There was Hayley Williams, the face in front of a story about a music business phenomenon known as the 'multiple rights' or '360' deal. Under these innovative arrangements, record companies receive a portion of a band's concert, merch and licensing revenues in exchange for promoting the band. Some observers feel that the record company role is to nurture talent and help build a loyal fan base in the first place, for which they pocket the lion's share of a song or album's sales price. Granted, downloads paid and stolen are changing the marketplace, but the question remains: Under this new system is Paramore cashing in or being ripped off?

Pete Wentz: Truth or irony?
Posted
2 yrs 1 mo ago
The mainstream press is somewhat like Buzznet in that neither of us has the willpower to pass up a story about Fall Out Boy provocateur Pete Wentz. Believe it or not, Buzznet held off longer on two recent Wentz quips that were widely reported by media outlets with less self control. Pete was quoted by MTV in response to being named an unsexy man: "I don't really view myself as a particularly attractive person. So it doesn't really bum me out that much. I have a mullet. I don't care." Later, Pete stunned England's OK magazine by shrugging off questions about Ashlee Simpson with: "I think she's good. I don't know; I haven't talked to her recently! ... I hope we didn't break up!" Which of these two Wentz cracks is furthest from the truth?

Oli Sykes: Is Bring Me the Horizon coming too soon?
Posted
2 yrs 1 mo ago
Serially scandalous singer Oli Sykes isn't blaming Bring Me the Horizon's relentless touring schedule for delaying a follow-up release to 2006's Count Your Blessings. Oli told Blabbermouth: "We have three weeks off between the end of our U.S. tour and the start of the Gigantour down there in Australia. We may not have a lot of time to get new stuff ready, but we do want to get another new album out there as soon as possible." Would you rather have the new record in a hurry, or should BMTH spend some extra time on it?

'Gossip Girl' Taylor Momsen hits her high-school homecoming
Posted
2 yrs 1 mo ago
Gossip Girl vixen Taylor Momsen may not be a star of Disney hit High School Musical, but she was surely one of the leading ladies of her own high-school homecoming dance. The Washington Post -- the paper that brought America the Watergate scandal -- reveals that 14-year-old Taylor attended the gala in the gym of Winston Churchill High in her hometown of Potomac, Maryland. The Post insinuates that Taylor was a bit of a snob, secluding herself from the Winston Churchill riffraff by staying within a scrum of handpicked friends. Sort of like Laguna Beach, when it was good. Now that Taylor's famous, is it fair to the other social-climbing preps for her to come back and lord it over the class?

Ryan Phillippe is secretly emo. Can you help?
Posted

Being a movie star can't protect you from emotional pain, at least not if you're Ryan Phillippe. According to Us online, the professionally handsome leading man was so devastated after being scraped off by wife Reese Witherspoon that he thought about killing himself. "I would wake up and cry and vomit.” Probably many of us can relate with Ryan's pain. Is there a song that might have helped him to the other side?

Gerard Way: His chemical free romance
Posted
2 yrs 1 mo ago
My Chemical Romance brain trust Gerard Way recently dissected the "sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll" mindset in Rolling Stone."It's a dinosaur. Honestly, it's bullsh**. We're all artists, and we're all nuts in some way, but you can treat people with respect and yourself with respect." Is Gerard right, or is he just a killjoy?
